Launch Event - 17th May 2008
What better way to start the 16 day Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival than with a packed programme of walks and activities, all centred in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds?
Based at the disused quarry at Welton le Wold, the days activities include a series of short walks, 2-3 miles, looking at points of interest such as Geology, Chalk Streams and Local History, and a longer walk, 5 miles, from Louth to Welton le Wold, all lead by knowledgeable leaders. Entertainers will also be on site, running workshops on walk-related themes such as stilt, tight rope and globe walking, along with activities such as mini-beast hunts and face painting. A range of organisations will be there to provide information on wildlife, geology, archaeology and walking so there really will be something for everyone to enjoy.
The site will be open from 10am until 4pm, with short walks and activities throughout the day.
Parking is available on site, alternatively, why not use the transport being provided between Louth and Welton le Wold on the day
No dogs are allowed on site at any time, owners and dogs attending the event will be asked to leave.
Location - Welton le Wold disused quarry, south off the A631, west of Louth, signposted on the day. With kind permission from the private landowner.
